With over three decades of experience in civil litigation, attorney Paul Sortland operates a solo, private law practice in Minneapolis. Certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association as a civil trial specialist, he represents individuals and companies in personal injury and business lawsuits, as well as legal, medical, and accounting malpractice cases. Paul Sortland maintains admissions to practice law in the United States Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the state and federal courts of Minnesota and North Dakota.
Over the course of his extensive legal career, Paul Sortland has won precedent-setting jury verdicts and settlements in cases involving matters ranging from antitrust violations to significant personal injury claims. He has litigated cases featured in Forbes and other national publications, and has received listing in both Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in American Law. After securing a trial verdict of over $2 million in a Minnesota medical malpractice suit, Mr. Sortland was inducted to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a national organization to which less than 1 percent of US lawyers have gained admission.
Along with participation in the Minnesota State Bar Association, Paul Sortland belongs to the State Bar Association of North Dakota, the Minnesota Association for Justice, and the American Association for Justice. Outside of the legal field, he formerly served as president of the Minneapolis Downtown Kiwanis Club.
